Are you (US residents) ready for the big turkey day feast tomorrow? Our daughter and family were here for the weekend so we had our big meal this past Sunday.
I recruited two helpers to slather butter between the skin and breast of the turkey. Smaller hands worked great.
Plus there was the “ew, this is so gross” factor!
Once the grossness was out of the way, they did a wonderful job of smearing butter all over the bird.
Best turkey ever!
I washed the three 1898 hats to try to soften the acrylic yarn and it worked. Sort of.
They are somewhat softer and are good enough.
The green hat stitches evened out so the mess basically disappeared.

It’s that time again for the box of Christmas Wishes! I had to get these ready now so the recipients can take them home at Thanksgiving (and save me from mailing them later).
I downloaded these tree box templates from PaperBuiltShop. They are so cute and can hold larger items. The three tree boxes contain Christmas tree-shaped candy canes similar to these.
Instead of buying paper for the packets, I used some old music paper which I ran through the printer to add some holiday graphics. 
The packets contain a small ornament to hang on a small 2-foot tree. One ornament per child each day beginning December 1st so by Christmas Eve the tree will be decorated. This year it’s 69 ornaments as the candy cane tree won’t hang on the tree. (BTW, my daughter saves most of the ornaments each year and gives them back to me every other year so I don’t have to buy all new ones each year. And the grandchildren haven’t complained yet!)

Do you have an Advent tradition?
Most hotels offer hairdryers in their guest rooms. But many times when staying with family or friends, a hairdryer might not be available when you need it. So when Mr. Aitch and I traveled across the country this past summer, we bought a small hairdryer to take with us for those times when we didn’t stay in a hotel.
The hairdryer was attached to the wall in some hotels but some were in a cloth bag on or under the sink area. That gave me an idea for our “travel” hairdryer.
I made a simple drawstring bag to protect it in our suitcase and make it easy to find.
Two fat-quarters and a length of cotton cord later and I called it done.
Cotton for the outside and a piece of heavy flannel for the inside. French seams keep it neat (no exposed seams). A piece of batting sandwiched between the outer and inner fabrics and/or quilting would offer more padding but I didn’t think of it at the time.
This will stay in our guest bathroom when we’re home but can go with us at a moments notice.
