Looking ahead

Eventually Spring will come.  And with gas prices going up every day, it will be cheaper for me to ride my motorcycle to work.

But it’s just too cold for that right now.  I mentioned before that I wanted to make a neck wrap.  It has to be something warm but thin enough to wear with my helmet and leather jacket.  I did not want anything that had to go over my head.  Sometimes when I get my gear on, I forget my neck until I’m ready to ride.

I have a neck gator that fits over my head but I have to remember to put that on before my helmet.

I’ve used bandanas but they aren’t exactly the right shape as either the front of my neck is covered or the back.  Not both.

I have nothing on my needles right now and I need a small project.  I want to knit this neckwarmer.  The yarn used is discontinued so I’m looking into some Malabrigo worsted.  I’ve never used it before nor have I even seen it in real life but I only need one skein.  I want something variegated.  Either greens and blues. Or reds and oranges.  I want that splash of color between my grey helmet and black leathers.

My plan is to stop at my LYS on my way home from work today and buy some.  And if they don’t have it, I’ll find something else!

Problem is when I shop for a specific thing, I can never find it.

Wish me luck!

Pattern copies

Before I start to knit a pattern, I copy it.  I don’t like to carry around a book or magazine.  I keep track of my row and/or stitch count on sticky notes.

How do you deal with your patterns?

Do you make a copy of it or do you knit right from the book or magazine? Do you keep your notes with the pattern when you’re finished?  Or do you only knit something once?

Swiffer cover and technology

I should be getting my computer back today!  I do not want to risk losing everything again.  Mr. Aitch has an external hard drive (why does that sound a bit naughty?) that I will be using as well to save all my precious craftiness.  No more being without all my electronic knitting patterns!  Everything will be saved there and may even be burned to disk.  Portability.

Last night I finished a Swiffer cover.  (Thanks Danielle)  It is solid lime green and seed stitch.  Can’t wait to use it.  Wow!  I never thought I’d say that!  I want to make more of these and also some from this pattern.  Thanks Cpezzers) Gonna need more cotton yarn.  I am NOT using leftover Cascade Ultra Pima for these!  No FO pictures yet.  I need wait until I get my computer back.

I am Ravelry challenged.  I cannot figure out how to do anything other than add things to my library.  I don’t even know how to post anything on there to ask for help.  I probably won’t be able to do anything with it this weekend.  Can anyone help me?  Please?

Froggy

I decided to frog te Swiffer cover I knit over the weekend.  I pushed it into the grabbers and it grabbed it alright.  I will find another pattern so it slips over the ends and not into the grabbers.  Do you have a favorite Swiffer cover pattern?  Please leave a comment or link.

I knit to get a finished object but this froggy knitting did give me a chance to perfect my seed stitch.  I love its nubby texture.

Almost finished with the first secret project.  I spent a large part of last night trying to find the last bit that I needed to sew on.  I really, really, REALLY need to organize my yarn stash and supplies.  Waiting until I finish part of the basement is just too long of a wait.  I will be posting for help on this at a later date so start thinking of how you organize your supplies and yarn.

I’m going to call (as soon as the store opens) for an update on my computer.   No computer = more knitting time.  This has given me new insight into what emails I keep and what I delete.  I usually keep most of them except for advertisements.  With a poor memory like mine I need to reread a lot of correspondence.  My on-line Inbox is really full and I should decide what is important.
