Don’t tread on me?

Finally finished last week!  And I L.O.V.E. it!030-me-w-purse

The zigzags remind me of tire treads so I decided to name my purse “Don’t Tread on Me.”030-felted-front-001

The treads felted flat into the knitted body but are slightly visible in the lower section in certain lighting.  Perhaps less felting would have retained the raised texture.032-felted-front-closeup-002

The ombre effect turned out well.031-felted-back-001

Love the swivel hook and triangle ring.033-felted-hook-001

All the stuff I carry…036-labeled-stuff

Project details later.

My SSSK socks

Between waiting for my felted purse to dry and figuring out the lining, I’ve made some progress on the Slipped-Stitch Spiral Knit socks.d-socks-005

Both yarn colors are somewhat subdued so the resulting pattern is less bold than the photo on the pattern.d-socks-004

And that’s fine with me.  My goal is to have another pair of socks and use up some of my stash.  Plus my yarn stash has more fingering weight yarns that have brighter colorways.d-socks-006

Hardware

The hardware for my soon-to-be felted purse/bag finally arrived in the mailbox!

I love the shape of the triangle ring that will attach to the top.

The swivel snap hooks will attach to the triangle ring.

If you need handbag hardware, the rings and snap hooks came from BagMaker Supply.  Great selection and reasonable prices. No, I’m not affiliated with them but I will be ordering from them again!

Now to the felting process!

I bought something

It’s unusual for me to purchase a single knitting pattern.  Most patterns in my collection come from magazines, books, on-line (Ravelry mostly), and my head.

Wanting something simple to knit while watching Netflix or Amazon, I started a basic sock using some uninteresting yarn.

It was a GREAT price and has been in my yarn stash for at least 10 years.

Though I do like self-striping yarn, I wanted something to at least camouflage or mix up the stripes.

Enter Dorothy’s Slip Stitch Spiral Knit Socks.

Source

This pattern uses two different patterned or self-striping sock yarns that will help eliminate some odd balls (pun intended) of yarn and be perfect for some new socks.

My two balls of yarn?  Purple, orange and white vs green, blue, and brown.

Should be interesting.  Thank you, Rachelle for suggesting a slipped-stitch texture!
