I had to go out yesterday afternoon to pick up a few things for my sister. When I got back she said there was a little accident. I was expecting a bodily function type of accident but that wasn’t the case.
One of her greyhounds tried to help me with the sock I’m knitting for my daughter.
Fortunately no stitches were lost or dropped. It’s just going to take me a while to untangle and rewind that yarn mess back into a ball.
I should have known better than to leave my knitting unsecured.
I’m at my sister’s house helping out after her hip replacement surgery. Along with sending her the walker bag, last month, I brought some other gifts for her.
The Double Moss socks, a handmade satiny pillowcase, an amazing lotion stick, a towel for her hair, and some tinted lip balm (not pictured).
We haven’t seen each other in person for three years so we get sidetracked with talking instead of watching the clock and getting her moving around. She is doing very well but I need to dig deep and find the Nurse Ratchet** in me. As with any recovery there are challenges as well as celebrations. I’ll be helping her out until Thursday.
I brought some knitting with me but haven’t done much.
On another note…my hat’s off to all you fellow bloggers who post from your phones or tablets. I have posted on the road before but mostly post from home using my desktop computer. I hope this post is readable, the links work, and the photo is visible.

I started the Karate Kid’s socks last week and texted his mom a picture to see if he still liked the pattern.
The colors are beautiful but not quite for a nine-year old boy so I am going to redye the yarn in darker greens and blues.
Hopefully we will both like the bolder colors better…for a Karate Kid pair of socks.
The socks for the Artist just flew off my needles. I’m not sure if it was the vibrant colors, the simple sock pattern, or my knitting Mojo.
I cast on sock #1 on July 28 and finished sock #2 Monday evening…except for grafting the toe as I try to do that in the morning when my brain is rested.
This was hand-dyed yarn from the marathon dyeing session at the end of June.
The colors remind me of tropical fruits: pineapple. mango, papaya, and coconut. Refreshing colors on hot summer days.
The pattern was a basic top-down sock in plain stockinette stitch that really showed off the colors and an Eye of Partridge heel flap.
Once again to save as much of the hand-dyed yarn, I knit the toes in a contrasting color. This time it was Knit Picks Stroll fingering weight in Scarlet.
These two pairs are off to Colorado to the Artist and the Princess.
Next up are socks for the Karate Kid…just as soon as I finish a sewing project.
