Stash addition

After realizing that I didn’t want to knit another pair of blue socks (for now), I took advantage of LoveCraft’s yarn sale last week and added 10 balls of Schachenmayr Regia 4-Ply sock yarn to my stash.  I didn’t feel too guilty over this purchase as I’ve been using stash yarn so far this year.  Plus my mental health needed a new-yarn boost!

The yarn arrived in this lovely mesh-type drawstring bag.Regia sock yarns from LoveCraft

First up is a rich-colored yarn twisted with deeper tones in the Indian Night colorway.Regia sock yarn in Indian Night

Next is Spot Graphite, a dark grey heathered yarn with an inch or two of brighter colors here and there that will create spots of color instead of stripes.  I hope.Regia sock yarn Spot Graphite

Finally, we have Anthrazit Tweed similar to the above grey with tweed flecks.Regia 4-ply sock yarn Anthrazit Tweed

I think all three colorways of this yarn will blend nicely with each other so I can mix and match as needed.Regia 4-ply sock yarn

I will be casting on another pair of socks as soon as I finished the Luminary sock #2!

Luminary part 1

I finally figured out why it has taken me nearly two months to knit one sock.  I’m tired of knitting with blue yarn.  Well, I think that’s the reason other than I’ve just not been feeling quite like myself for the past several months.

I do like all colors but after knitting five socks (here and here ) in the same color family I’m feeling a bit, um, blue.Luminary sock

Here is one 99% finished Lunimary sock from The Handmade Sock Society season 3.  The fifth sock pattern in this series was just delivered to my inbox last week so I’ve got some catching up to do!  I got behind with knitting this season’s socks when I was working on my S-I-Ls ruana and sewing face masks.Luminary sock close-up

Stash diving was good but the stash will increase within the next week or so with some grey/charcoal fingering yarn.  Perfect for socks that I will actually wear in public.

So I’ll be trudging along with the second sock to complete this pair then on to something else in a not so blue color family.

The first sock

Are you tired of reading about my socks?  Well, this is about the first sock in Season 3 of The Handmade Sock Society series: Luminary.Photo of Luminary socks THSS Season 3

I cast on as soon as I finished the previous season sock, Dorsal, using some reclaimed yarn from another project.

The variegated yarn was pooling on the cuff but I persevered for another 15-18 rows before I ripped it all out.

This yarn is not for this pattern.  The interesting texture stitches got lost between the light and dark shades so it’s back in my stash.  Again.

Enter Knit Picks Stroll in the Inverness colorway, “composed of deep navy, forest green, dark anthracite, and with a pop of celestial blue.”  It’s been in my stash for a couple of years begging to be seen.  I’m sure this one is “the one.”

And it better be as Helen has just released the third sock in the series.  I am so behind!

I almost forgot…Happy Birthday to my favorite daughter! I love you!!❤️😘💕

THSS II sock 6

As soon as I finished the Sailing School socks in Helen Stewart’s The Handmade Sock Society Season 2, I cast on for the final pair in the series.  A bit late but it is what it is.

The yarn is a combination of Knit Picks Stroll in Midnight Heather and Andromeda in Grumpy Gus (from the Sailing School socks).  I only had 58 grams of the Stroll and knew that wasn’t enough so I decided that the Grumpy Gus colorway would be a nice contrast for the cuff, heel, and toe areas.yarn used in Dorsal Socks

I’ve made lots of progress and am past the heel and gusset on the second sock already.dorsal sock progress

I’m beginning to have some arthritis issues with the ring finger on my right hand and knitting is a bit aggravating at the moment.  But I hope/plan to have these socks finished bt the end of the week.
