A slow day

It’s a slow day at the office.

Most people took the day off to make an extended holiday weekend.  I didn’t.

The sun was shining when I left for work and it was already 70 degrees at 7:00 AM.

So wore these.

Boots-and-helmet

What I didn’t bring with me was one of these.

Umbrella

The view outside the office door.

Outside

Yes, that’s rain on the door.  And a big, black rain cloud.

The view of the parking lot.

Bike

And another one.

Bike-1

See it?

bike-2

How about now?

I sure hope it clears up by the time I’m ready to leave….  Or it’s going to be a wet ride home.

Always drink milk

During the summer, we work four 10-hour days and have off either Mondays or Fridays.  I chose Mondays.

On this particular Monday Mr. Aitch and I tackled the basement stairs and the area to the right of the stairs.  There was a shelving unit with stuff on it from when we moved in 19 years ago.  Still in the moving boxes.

I know that some people would say to not open the boxes and just toss it.  If anything inside the boxes was important, it would have been retrieved long ago.

I would have tossed this:

Milk-mug-006

My sister had a blue one.  I remember drinking hot cocoa from this cup.  And eating toasted homemade bread with peanut butter and homemade grape jelly.

The rest of the stuff was assorted glassware that I will probably donate to Goodwill.  I just don’t have the energy to have a yard sale.

I would love to see and display the things that I love and that are important to me.  I just have to find the right piece of furniture to do that.

Cleaning doesn’t bother me.  It’s dealing with all of the stuff that I hate.  And deciding what to do with all the stuff makes me physically sick.

Sewing machine question

I may be in the market for a new sewing machine.

I plan to do some quilting as well as home decor and some clothing.  The machine I have now is designed for occasional and light sewing though I’ve done some extensive sewing projects in the past several years.  It’s just not keeping up with the demands I’m placing on it.  Mostly because it’s not designed to.

I want to machine quilt twin-sized (or larger) quilts, which are a bit larger than the 15 x 24 inch items I’ve been doing.

For all you quilters (or non-quilters) out there: What sewing machine do you use or would recommend for machine quilting?  Pros and cons?
