WIP Wednesday

I started on another Leafy Washcloth Monday evening while listening to the concert in the park.  I got half of it done.

Yes.  It’s purple.  I grabbed my knitting bag without making sure I had the right color yarn.  Whatever.

Last night I decided I needed to make summer dresses for the twins.  I’m using a pattern from when my daughter (the twin’s mother) was little.  The dresses are reversible so I had to cut out four fronts and four backs.  By the time I got the pieces cut out, the light wasn’t good enough to get any pictures.  I should get them sewn up tonight.

I will be seeing them on Monday and hope to take the finished dresses with me.

These were the Fetching Fingerless Mitts from the Summer 2006 issue of Knitty.

I will reknit these with some changes.

First, I ran out of yarn.  I used Knit Picks Andean Silk. 96 yards plus a couple of yards leftover from the Ms. Ida Chain Link Mittens I made last year.  The pattern calls for 98 yards so I thought I would have enough.  Evidently not.

Second, I’m not a fan of the picot bind off.  The mitts flare out and I want them to actually keep my hands warm so I’m changing that to a regular bind off.  A lot of people on Ravelry agreed.

Third, I messed up on the cable on the right mitt and didn’t notice it until I was almost finished.  You can see the mess on the lower right on the top photo.

I’ll be on a mini vacation next week so I will be taking these in my knitting bag along with a few other quick and portable knits.

Neckwarmer

I don’t think I ever showed you the finished Herringbone Neck Warmer.  I wore it to work yesterday morning under my motorcycle jacket.  It was 56 degrees and at 65 mph one’s neck can get chilled.

I really need some color on my lips!  And pardon the “helmet hair”.

It is soft and warm and the perfect size to do the job.  My only complaint is the color.  I love the color but wanted something brighter.  On the shelf  the green looked like it would be the pop I needed but it just got lost with the blue and purple.

Yarn: Araucania Panguipulli color #10 Olive and Purple

The herringbone stitch pattern is very warm and dense.  Yes, I’d make it again in a brighter color.
