I spy…

I love reading other people’s blogs and looking at the photos they post.  It’s like a little window into their lives.

Yep, I’m nosy.

I like seeing the sweaters, shawls, scarves, hats, quilts, dresses, socks, kids, dogs, plants, food and whatever else you are posting about.   I also like to see what’s in the background.  The books, the mantle, the wine glass, the coffee mug, the tea-cup, the half done jigsaw puzzle, the pillows on your chair or sofa.   I like to see what plants you have in your garden, the arbor, the fencing.   Oh, you have the same deck furniture as I do.  Love that lamp on the table in the background.  Cute stitch markers.  The window to your life.

My photos aren’t too good.  Some are out of focus, some are too dark, some are both!  I’m wondering if it’s me or the camera.  The camera I’m using has been dropped a few times and I’ve noticed I can’t get the clean edges anymore.

I try to crop my photos so some of my cluttered life doesn’t spill into yours.

One of my pictures on Facebook has me sitting on my motorcycle trying to look cool.  In the background were the dead flowers in my porch boxes.  So I had to do some magic to make the mess resemble live flowers.  It’s not the greatest job but it’s better than the brown disaster that was there.

New flowers

I won! I WON!!

No need to congratulate me, really.  I truly deserve the award and I wasn’t even trying to win.  In fact I wish I wouldn’t have won…the Dumb A** of the Week Award.

I was cutting out some fabric with a rotary cutter and wasn’t paying attention to where my thumb was.  It was riding along the business edge of the rotary cutter.

It’s a smooth cut.  It’s a DEEP cut.  And it’s still bleeding.

Fortunately I didn’t get any blood on the fabric.

I might be able to knit if I put a big thimble over the end of my thumb so the wound doesn’t reopen.  That is if I can get it to stop bleeding…

Decisions, decisions

I picked up the Ms Ida Chain Link mittens once again and am already a few rows past the ribbing.  I still haven’t completely finished the first one yet.  The thumb and flip-top finishing are waiting.  Plus I’m not liking the pointy end and tried to do something to round it out a bit and still keep the end smooth.

MS Ida CLM right back

I’m headed to the City of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia) in 10 days for a conference for work.  I don’t like to drive in big cities and I’d have to drive the beltway around Baltimore.  Mr. Aitch went with me the last time I went to this conference.  He doesn’t want to go this time.   So I decided I would take the train instead of drive.

That will give me six hours going and six hours coming back to knit!  Yes!  Plus the evenings in the hotel.  Yes!

I need to look at my unfinished objects, my yarn stash and my knitting wish list.  Then I just have to figure out what project(s) to take with me…

Neck wraps

I’m looking for a quick knit for a neck wrap.  It has to be secure around my neck and not tie.

I ride a motorcycle and this time of the year (as well as the spring) the mornings are a bit chilly.  I usually tie a bandana around my neck under my jacket…looks like a cowboy sort of.  I want something a bit more sophisticated than a bandana.  My Mom had a lot of beautiful scarves that I thought I could use for such an occasion (and keep her close to me) but the scarves are silky and like to move around too much.

Any sleek but warm suggestions?
