Ms Ida pictures

I gifted the Ms Ida Chain Link mittens to my sister and she sent me a picture of them.  For some reason I forget to take the pictures before I gift something.

Ms Ida Chain Link mittens

I followed the pattern (large) including the yarn and colors except I left off one diamond repeat on the thumb and it was plenty long.   My original plan was to make these flip top mittens but I was having such a time with the thumbs that we (my sister and I) decided the flip top wasn’t necessary.

I used Knit Picks City Tweed in Dungaree and Andean Silk in Cream.  I loved working with this yarn though it is sticky.  Just don’t make many mistakes to tink or frog.

Thinking I would make two pairs of these mittens, I bought another Andean Silk in cream and City Tweed in Cottontail that appears to be discontinued.  It’s a taupe color.  I’ll find something else to knit with it.

Have you ever had one of those days where one teeny, tiny, insignificant, little thing just sets you off and all sorts of nastiness leaks out?  No?  Trust me, it’s not pretty.  That was me yesterday.

The details aren’t important but it set the tone for the day.  I stopped in a store after work to buy some floss for the felt ornaments I want to make and I overheard someone ask if there was something wrong with the water as everyone was in a crabby mood.   So it wasn’t just me.

The day ended up much better than it started.  I finished (except for weaving in the ends) Ms Ida Chain Link Mittens.  Happy Dancing ensued!!

Slowly but surely

Soles are sewn on the seamless slippers for Dr. Professor.  I just need to get the in the mail.

Progress on Ms Ida.  Picked out the disastrous mitten tip I tried to Kitchener stitch instead of going with the pointy tips.  The Knit Picks Alpaca yarn is fabulous but sticks to itself.  The mittens should be warm if nothing else.  I went with the pointy tips after all.  This picture is old and doesn’t show that I’m finished with the mitten in the foreground but you can at least see what I tried to do there at the top.

I played on the computer last night when I should have been working on the thumb.   Did you know that if you search for images of “felt ornaments”, a plethora of felty goodness appears on the screen?

…one to go.  I finished the left Musica mitt last night and started the right one.  Since both have different patterns, I think the next one will be as quick and the first.  No boring knitting.

The yarn color is very close to the border on this page, kind of a dusky blue.  The photo is much brighter.

We started our Christmas decorating around the house and Mr. Aitch wants to put the lights up outside this afternoon while it’s sunny and above freezing.
