It started yesterday afternoon

The scratchy feeling in my sinus cavity and the cactus that was growing in my throat began yesterday afternoon.  3:49 pm to be exact.  Or that’s when I noticed it.

I was (and still am) tired and achy.

Sleep wasn’t happening.  At least the kind of sleep I wanted and needed.

I’ve discovered that when I am sick, I have weird dreams.  Between getting warm and comfortable, clutching a wad of tissues, and blocking out my snorting and my (and Mr. Aitch’s) snoring, I dreamt I had to stack blocks in a bizarre game of solitaire that never ended.  Every time I closed my eyes, the game would start over.

I became fully conscious an hour before my alarm was to go off so I just got up and was ready for work way too early.  The half-hour power nap on the sofa this morning was the best sleep I had all night.

Going from 86 degrees in Florida to 30 degrees here might have been a factor.  Most likely it was someone on the plane or in the airport that wanted to share their cold.

And it’s snowing again.

Have a great day.  And stay well!

Stranded

Last Wednesday I went to our daughter’s house to babysit our grandson since our SIL was out of town on business.  Our daughter was one of the moms who had to help with a Valentine’s Day party at school and younger siblings were not allowed to attend.

They live west of us so I checked the weather forecast for Thursday and Friday.  We were supposed to get 5-8 inches of snow and they were supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow.

Well, it didn’t quite turn out that way.

She got at least 10 inches of snow and we got 17 inches of snow.

I was stranded at her house.

So we made the best of it.  The twins and I went out to build a snowman Thursday afternoon even though it was still snowing.

They have a 4-wheeler with a plow but it just wasn’t enough to clear the half-mile driveway quickly.   Our daughter had never used the plow but figured it out.  There was just too much snow and got it cleared enough to drive on after she worked on it for over three hours.

I got to my office about six hours late.

Normally I would have just gone home but I had to pick up a few things to take on an upcoming business trip.  To Florida.  Where I understand is warm, sunny, and snow-less!

I do have pictures of a finished sweater I will share later in the week.

New Orleans – Can we come back?

I attended a conference in New Orleans the week before the Super Bowl.

We had a great time though I was stuck inside most of the time.

I’ve learned in the past that I can’t concentrate on knitting on an airplane.  I managed to knit an Olive Oil Drip Catcher at the airport but that’s all the knitting I did.

And I don’t even have a photo of it!

Our hotel was on the corner of Canal and Bourbon streets.

We were a block away from the 49er’s hotel.

Beads?  Yes, we got beads.  I won’t tell you how we got them.  I wouldn’t want to disappoint anyone.  =)
