#1

I recently read an article about a family who started eating dinner by candlelight. The kids were calmer, less distracted, and more open to talking and sharing thoughts and feelings. Being calm and less distracted sounds like a good idea for meals.

Today is also Ash Wednesday, the first day of the Lenten season.
#3 I couldn’t wait to begin something new as my knitting mojo went on vacation with Pepper’s sweater so I started a new sock! It’s the Easy Mosaic Sock by Winwick Mum. It looks complicated but only one color of yarn is used for each row except one. To get the two-color look, a stitch is slipped from the previous row onto the right needle without knitting it and continues with the row pattern.

I’m using Regia 4-ply tweed yarn in charcoal and Knit Picks Chroma Twist in Surf’s Up (discontinued yarn).

The pattern is free and Winwick Mum explains the process much better than me.
Are you doing anything special for Valentine’s Day?
How do you observe Lent or is it just another usual time?
Have you started any new projects this year?

A blessed Lent to you, Patti. My husband is a secular Franciscan. They often joke that Lent is year round. I ponder what comes between me and God and work to eliminate that. We spend time in Eucharistic Adoration. Fridays are Stations of the Cross, and my husband leads a First Friday Eucharistic Holy Hour at our church. Lent is big with us. xoxo

I haven’t decided what I’m doing or not doing for Lent other than giving up double-dipped chocolate covered peanuts.

For years I would declare “No more herring in sour cream! It’s Lent after all!” 🙂

that is so cool! Currently on the needles is a St. Patrick’s Day hat for Great Grandson #1. Up next is a sweater for Great Grandson #2, who arrives in April. Also on the hook is a blanket for #1, and after all that, some hats for #1 because the child has only one, a Valentine’s Day hat knit by Gemma (me) just in time. They need to slow down on the baby making a bit round here!

I have a pumpkin hat pattern I’ve made so many times! Change it up and it’s an apple, blueberry, etc. But I’m always looking for new ones! Should be getting the needles I need for the baby sweater today, St Patrick’s hat is nearly done so on to the next thing!

I pick up the needles every chance I get. I’m loving the design and pattern.
I haven’t decided what to do or not do for Lent. Better figure it out soon!
