Bowl

I saw the pattern for this neat knitted bowl last week and decided to knit it up.  It’s from Garn Studio – Drops bread basket.

I didn’t have the recommended bulky yarn so I had to substitute something smaller.

Cotton worsted weight – Lily Sugar and Cream in Hot Blue.

I used size 7 US needles and finished it in two evenings.

Bowl-004

I could have held two strands of yarn together but I didn’t have enough of any cotton yarn in my stash that coordinated so I just used one strand and smaller needles.

Bowl-003

Knit flat and seamed.  It is very easy as only knit stitches are used, however, short rows are involved.  If you want to learn how to do short rows, this would be a great project.

Obviously this isn’t large enough to be used as a bread bowl but I’m sure I can use it for something!

The next time I might try a provisional cast on for a hidden seam.

Repair or replace

Slippers-1I don’t remember when I started wearing these slippers.  Three, four, five, or more years ago.

Slippers-2

Well worn, they are.

My aunt has a pair of pajamas that have been patched and repaired so many times I don’t think any of the original fabric is there any more.

I must confess that I have repaired the toes of these slippers several times.  The one heel is in pretty bad shape.  I’m not sure if that part can be salvaged.

I just happen to have three new pairs sitting in my stash…

At what point do you repair or replace?

I’ll have ice with that

It was 36 degrees at our house this morning and as I got closer to work, the temperature dropped a little.

It was misting when I got out of the car.  And the trees were already coated with ice.

That didn’t stop this guy who rides his bicycle every day to work.

The drizzly mist just turned to snow.  Wintery precipitation is predicted for this area.  Snow, sleet, freezing rain?  It’s going to be an interesting drive home this afternoon.

Good thing I brought these with me today.

Do you have one…. yet?

I may or may not have a 2-3 darker hairs on my upper lip.  And I may or may not cut them off.

Does your significant other have one?

m2

Do you know someone who has one?

Do you think you’ll have one in the future?
