Stability

I wore the Peony Twist Cardi to my appointment and then work yesterday.  I got a lot of compliments on it.  (You know who you are.   Thank you.)  I’ll have Mr. Aitch take another picture tomorrow now that the buttons are on it.

The sweater isn’t too small but the yarn is so soft that the front band has no stability and pulls at the button holes.  It kind of mimics the wave pattern in the sweater but I’m not sure I like it.   I’m debating on whether to sew some ribbon under the buttons and buttonhole band.

You can see it here (yesterday’s post) though I’ve only got it pinned.

I know a picture is worth a thousand words so think about this and come back tomorrow to see what I’m talking about when I have a finished picture.  I’ll need your opinion.

Thanks.

Attaching buttons

The last post about my Peony Twist Cardi was about not having the right buttons.  I found some but I’m not loving them.

I was knitting this sweater during one of my many visits to the doctor this year  (not a good year health-wise) and one of the nurses told me she looked forward seeing me wear the sweater to my next appointment.  That’s coming up on Thursday!   It’s just a regular check-up, thank goodness.

I’m not going to have time to find any other buttons before then AND get them sewed on so I’m just going to use what I have.  I can always change them later, right?

The Vine Vest is still on the needles.  I think five more rows of ribbing will do it and then it will be done.

Daily Knitter

Thank you for checking out my Dots and Stripes purse pattern as well as the Eyelet Sweaters and Seamless Slippers.  Since posting my purse and sweater patterns on Ravelry last month, I have been enjoying all visits.

Today the Dots and Stripes purse pattern was featured as the pattern-of-the-day on Daily Knitter.

There it is!

Woo-hoo!

Knitting therapy

On Saturday we went to visit our son and his family.  We took the Harley so I didn’t get any knitting done while traveling.  Their town was celebrating Heritage Day and we did a walking tour to the various sites.

We probably walked 2-3 miles.  It was partly cloudy and the temperature was a pleasant 73 degrees.  A great day to be outside.

Here’s a photo extracted from a video Mr. Aitch made of us sitting on the front porch of one of the mansions we toured.  It’s not as sharp as a still photo would be.

Hey, there’s my Dots and Stripes purse, too!  I wore my Herringbone Neck warmer on the ride there but obviously am not wearing it here.  I digress.  Sorry.

My granddaughter walked a good bit of the way and her mom or dad carried her some of the time, too.  Then  she decided she didn’t want anyone else to carry her except me.  So I did.  She probably weighs 20-30 pounds and everyone was concerned about my back and how sore it would be on Sunday.

It wasn’t my back that hurt.  It was my right arm.  I carried her mostly on my left side but it was the way I was supporting her (and my left arm) with my right arm that did me in.

I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to knit but I did knit a few rows on the Vine Vest and my arm felt much better.  As you may recall I wasn’t sure if I would have enough yarn to make this vest.  I used one entire ball of yarn so far on the ribbing around the front and neck edging and still have about another inch of ribbing before it’s finished.  I will have some yarn left over.
