I decided to knit another Botanical Yoke Dog sweater for Pepper. Instead of using dk weight yarn, I’m using worsted acrylic/wool yarn since I need to use that up. After knitting a gauge swatch, I decided to use the stitch count for the Extra Small sweater and size 7 (US) needles.
The Vivid Orange was in a grab bag from a friend and the Cranberry was from my stash. I wanted something bright/visible but not blinding so that’s where the cranberry came into play.
Everything was going great until it wasn’t. I had just vacuumed the carpet and Mr. Aitch and I were eating lunch. He asked if Pepper was curled up in my chair as he couldn’t see her. It was quiet. Too quiet.
I found her with these little bits of dark stuff. At first glance, I thought they were sunflower seeds from the bird feeder that came inside on her fur.
Then I saw this.
Knitter’s Pride Dreamz Circular needles that I was using on her sweater!
Fifteen minutes in the crate.
I ordered another needle that should arrive next week so I tried to salvage what I had using a pencil sharpener.
It’s not the best solution but it will have to do.

Noooooooooooooo!!!!! Oh, Patti! I can relate! For almost a year, I couldn’t leave my knitting anywhere. Carver would devour the needles but he really went to town on the wool. Puppies! The sweater is going to be adorable. 🐶

Smack must have called her and told her about the fun he had a couple yrs ago when you stayed with me after my hip replacement…he was enticed by your knitting then!!!

Oh Pepper! And she doesn’t look a bit contrite! Maverick never ate yarn or needles- I’d learned that lesson with Max! Anyway- the colors are great, it will be a beautiful sweater!

She can be a real female dog…if you get my drift. I usually put my projects out of her reach. Obviously I wasn’t thinking this time.

Meh, we all make mistakes. Just grateful it was only the needles and no damage to Pepper

The wooden end seemed quite brittle and grainy. I couldn’t get it real smooth. I ended up having to that the needle out and insert it so the undamaged end was on the right side. I’ve been able to knit another 16-row increase sequence. I love how the sweater fits her but I don’t think I’ll do the cable yoke this time.

I managed to start the border on a crochet baby blanket last night so with any luck, I’ll have the next one on the needles this weekend.

I had a miniture schnauzer, loved her to death but they are sneaky, she reminded me of my 3 year old son!!! Sorry that she ruined your needles :(. I like wooden needles too. Looks like you found a “McGyver” for it until you get a new one.

My chihuahua chewed my first pair of Clover bamboo circulars. I learned not to leave them on the nightstand in reach of a teething pup. 🤭
