Where has the time gone?

I don’t know what happened.  It’s the middle of September already!

Our summer hours schedule ended last week and I really miss the extra day off. I don’t miss getting up an hour earlier and getting home an hour later.

Last weekend our daughter and the twins stayed with us and we all went to a birthday party for our son’s children.  It was back to work on Monday.  I’ve had something going on every night this week and it’s Friday already.

I finished the orchid hippo and should be able to take some pictures this weekend.  I also plan to finish some sewing/knitting projects as well as post a couple of tutorials.  Wow!  That’s pretty ambitious!!

The yarn for my class still needs to be wound into balls.  I prefer doing that by hand so I can find any knots or other problems before I knit with it.  Mr. Aitch is pretty good with helping me do that.  Sounds like an after-dinner project for tonight.

Did you feel that?

I experienced my first earthquake yesterday afternoon.

When the rumble started, I was in the optometrist’s waiting room.  No one else seemed to be aware of the rumbling underneath my feet and I thought there was something wrong with me.  Then it got worse for what seemed like minutes though I’m sure was just a few seconds.  The building started to move and the floor shook.

It wasn’t just me who felt it that time.

My first thought was is was the result of an explosion.  They happen around here occasionally.

My second thought was an earthquake.  They don’t happen around here.

Well, evidently they do happen around here.  Or 160 miles away.

I definitely felt it.

Mr. Aitch didn’t notice a thing.  He was outside trimming the bushes.

P.S. For those of you keeping score:    The Aitchs: 1     Uninvited Guests: 0

Uninvited guests

While Mr. Aitch and I were away, some uninvited guests came to our house.  They’re still here.

Somewhere.

Their droppings were on the floor and counter top and how-in-the-world-did-they-get-on-my-table?

Eeewww!  Gross!!

So I made a quick trip to the store this morning and bought these:

Mr. Aitch and I have an agreement.  I buy the traps.  He does the rest.

Ok, maybe eight traps is too many.  Um…..  No.

So I’ve been cleaning.  Deep down, disinfecting cleaning.  And I suspect I’ll be doing more cleaning until the signs of the uninvited guests no longer appear.

And their furry, little carcasses are out of my house.

Excuse me while I go scrub something.

Bugs bite

Me.  They love me.

We went to Mr. Aitch’s niece’s going-away-to-college party over the weekend.  We had a great time and wished the new college girl much success.

The party was outside and as the evening progressed, I could feel myself being eaten alive.  I have 33 bugs bites on my left foot and  leg and 19 on my right all mid-calf or below.  52 bites.

Did you know that a dollop of hand sanitizer directly on the bite works great to relieve the itching?

Connect the dots anyone?
