…remember this picture?
I finally found what I needed to finish it.
And it’s orange.
I have to finish one more hippopotamus before tonight then I can work on the orange thing between birthday parties and house guests.

These are the newest additions to our knitting family. Rebecca Danger’s Harriet the Haberdashery Hippo pattern in the 2011 Fall issue of Knit Simple.
Purple – Red Heart Super Saver, Lavender
Pink – Caron Simply Soft, Strawberry
Black felt for the eyes. I just love the tails.
If everything goes according to plan, they should have a sister in Caron Simply Soft Orchid very, very soon.
I, uh, went to my LYS (local yarn store) on Saturday and bought the yarn for my purse.
This is Cascade 220 Ruby and Jet. Ruby is deeper and Jet is darker (see photo below). But I couldn’t commit 100% so I also got these:
Cascade 220 Primavera and Jet. The Jet is pretty close to this color as it appears in the photo. It’s not black but more of a heathered charcoal. I have enough yarn to make two purses. I might use a little bit of the green in the ruby and jet purse and a little bit of the ruby in the green and jet purse. There’s still some time to play with that idea.
I also found these in the sale bin.
Hacho 100% Merino wool DK weight.
I think this would be perfect for some little girls who LOVE pink and purple. Not sure what I will make with it but I have enough for two toddler sweaters. 12 skeins, 137 yards each.
I loved the colors in this. It’s mostly hunter green with a little turquoise and copper for a punch. I have no idea what to do with this. 6 skeins, 137 yards each.
I really need to organize my yarn.
Sorry for my absence from here. I’ve been preoccupied with stuff….like life.
Anyway, I signed up for my very first knitting class. I’ve been knitting off and on for 40+ years and have never taken a knitting class. I figured I didn’t need to. But when I saw this beautiful felted handbag at my LYS (local yarn store) last month, I decided I was going to sign up for a class if it was offered. So I did!
The class starts September 14 and is three two-hour sessions.
http://www.millicentsyarns.com/newsletter.html Scroll down to the third section: Modular Knitting: Amber’s Garter Stitch Squares Felted Handbag. You can check out the pattern on Ravelry here.
Knitting 22 squares isn’t a big deal but I want to learn how to make this with as few seams as possible. I’ve never done modular/enterlac knitting before nor have I felted anything (on purpose) before so this class should be a win-win. Plus I’ll finish this in no time. Win-win-win!!
The hardest part will be deciding what two colors of yarn to use… Charcoal grey and ???
