The cover-up

Leftover beef roasts and vegetables make delicious vegetable soup.  At least that’s my opinion.  And my vegetable soup is very delicious.

When I was cutting up the cooked beef this morning, this happened:

cut-finger

I almost sliced off the entire side of my fingertip.   I didn’t photograph the actual cut as it was too gross.  You’re just going to have to trust me on that. Mr. Dr. Aitch fixed it right up.

Then he finished cutting up the meat and other vegetables for the soup.

Gee, I don’t think I can wash the dishes today even with rubber gloves.  =)  Turned that right into a positive, didn’t I?

It’s my blog…

…and I can do what I want to.  Actually I think it is supposed to be “party” instead of “blog” and “cry” but it’s my blog and I can do what I want to.

I’m taking a medication that is tearing up my stomach.  Literally.  So I missed work yesterday before I realized I should take this medication with food and not on an empty stomach like I was doing.  Issue resolved.

I had a lot to do at work today.  Like getting some forms to our clients.  IRS forms to be exact.  Forms that don’t line up with our software.  Three-part “carbonless” forms that have to be ripped apart before printing.  (Seriously, who uses impact printers any more?)  Forms on super thin paper that don’t go through any printer we have without skipping a page or ripping the form to smithereens.

Today is National Do Nothing Day and while I had plenty to do today (thanks to missing work yesterday), I am liking this day.  At least I’m liking it now.

It was also “lasagna” day.  One of my co-workers has a meeting every third Thursday each quarter.  He goes past a restaurant that has a special on Thursdays on lasagna for only $5.25.  Including fabulous, fresh, Italian bread.

Easy dinner.

Something I could relate to today: EASY.

We partook of the lasagna for dinner.

And freshly baked Italian bread.

Along with a bottle of wine.

Menage a Trois.  Inexpensive.  But good.

Which we enjoyed.

To the very last drop.

Warmth

In an attempt to warm up the house Monday evening I made 18 mini loaves of quick bread.

Twelve pumpkin and three cranberry/orange.

Only eleven and a half made it for a group photo.  Yum!  Even if they were from a boxed mix.

The rest may or may not make it to the freezer.

Tea

teaTea, please.  I’m not a coffee drinker.  I do love coffee ice cream and the smell of coffee but I just can’t drink it.  I tried to like it.  Just not for me.

My day starts with a cup of tea.  Right now my favorite is green chai tea.

tea-morning

The first time I tasted it, it reminded me of Christmas.  In fact I told my friend that it smelled like Christmas.  Spicy.  Sweet.  Comforting.  I add half and half and sugar to it and sometimes a bit of this pumpkin pie liqueur instead of sugar.

Fultons-Harvest-pumpkin-liqueur

My day ends with a cup of peppermint tea.

Hot water and tea.  Nothing more.  Soothing.  Calming.  Relaxing.

Alas…I receive no compensation from Stash Tea or Fulton’s Harvest Pumpkin Pie Cream Liqueur.
