What happens in Vegas…

We’re back from Vegas. I don’t think I mentioned where we were going. Sorry about that. I had a conference in Vegas and Mr. Aitch decided to go with me two seconds after I told him where it was being held.

I took my new bag on its maiden voyage.

That’s me with Franco Harris and the new bag at the Pittsburgh Airport. You can barely see it with my black shirt but hopefully you can get an idea of the size.

George Washington wanted his picture taken with the new bag as well. He’s really tall!

The Red M&M grabbed my bag as I walked by.

But I managed to get it back.

Love the bag. And got lots of compliments on it.

Travel knitting

I hope I read the TSA rules correctly because my travel knitting includes:

The Garter Stripe Bag that I just finished only in green and charcoal grey.

The Linen Stitch Scarflet: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/linen-stitch-scarflet

And a Cupcake hat from this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cupcake-beanie-2

If I can figure out how to post via iPhone, I may check in.  If not, have a great week.

FO Friday

Sometimes it works out that I have a finished object to post on FO Fridays.

My Garter Stitch bag is finished.  Strap.  Lining.  Button Loop.  Button.  Finished.

I decided not to use the leather straps as they weren’t long enough for my comfort.  So I knit an I-cord around some nylon rope.

I only made one strap because I don’t like two straps on my shoulder.  It seems like one is always falling off and I’m constantly fiddling with it.  After the strap was felted, I sewed it to the inside of the bag.

This is the outside with the strap sewn on.

And this is what it looks like on the inside.  I knit about 25 rows flat so I had a flat section to attach to the bag.  10 rows would have done the trick but I wanted to make sure it was big enough.  Better to be safe than sorry.  I sewed on the button loop, too, but I forgot to get a picture of that part.

The next step was attaching the 1 1/2 inch button.  This was something I actually had in my button stash.  The price was right at 25 cents.

Then I lined it.

With the lime green.

Because I liked it the best.

I’ll have Mr. Aitch take a picture of me with the bag so you can get a better idea of the size.  I’ll put the details on my Ravelry page, too.

Airplane knitting

I just realized that I have 72 hours to decide what knitting I will take on an airplane.  Socks seem like a small, unobtrusive choice however, I am not a fan of small diameter circular needles and dpns (double point needles) don’t seem to be very friendly seat mates.  Those might have to go in the checked baggage.

I could start on a second Garter Stitch bag for someone who’s been hinting for one.  The size 9 circular needle wouldn’t be as hard on my hands and it’s mindless garter stitch knitting that I can do without looking.

Cascade 220 Primavera and Jet

BTW I have the strap and most of the lining sewn in my Garter Stitch bag.  I just need to sew on the button loop and find or make a fabulous button to hold it closed.  Pictures soon.

Maybe I should check my Ravelry queue to see what other knitting projects I could take.

Any suggestions?
