Happy Birthday, America

“While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that’s free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer. ”

“God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.

Words and music by Irving Berlin

Every time I gear this song, I tear up. I also tear up when I hear America the Beautiful but especially when I hear the Star Spangled Banner.

    • And a young lady sang the Star Spangled Banner last night and did a fabulous job. Hearing it live always warms the heart.

  1. Well, I did hear fire works last night and I’m sure thru out the day and night today. The kid next door, about 8-9 years old, road his dirt bike motor cycle for 2 hours last night and he is already on it this morning. I can’t stand the noise from his gunning the engine or what ever you call it. You can’t sit outside or open your windows. I am going to have to say something but they are so nice to have as neighbors. I can’t wait for school to start. BTW, I do love those songs too!
