Flannel burp cloths are a great gift idea for new moms.
I made some for my daughter after she had twins. One can never have enough.
My first ones were made using any flannel I had as I needed to get them done in a hurry and didn’t have time to buy new and preshrink it.
1 yard of flannel makes two.
2 yards in coordinating or contrasting flannel makes a nice set of four.

Great gift idea….Burp cloths are probably one of the most useful cleanup tools for babies…..

Thanks. They’re great too after baby grow up for so many other things as well.
I styled them after the pre-fold diapers and can be used for that if one runs out of diapers.

I want you to know how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these burp cloths. I made my first set when my son was born last year. They are perfect for all types of cleanup, but especially when you want to wipe a little nose with something softer than a tissue… and you’re done with the scent of Boogie Wipes. Nobody mistakes their Plain Jane burp cloths for mine – great for playdates and for daycare. I’ve made these burp cloths for four babies since my little guy was born (twin nieces, another niece and a friend’s son) and they are one of those gifts that get “ooh’s” and “aah’s” every time. I have to keep myself from admitting that I can whip out four of these beauties in about an hour. Thank you!!

I am so happy that YOU love them! I think they are easy to make and can be customized by using whatever colors you want. On the last set I made I rounded the corners just a bit but the receiver said she liked at least one squared corner as it was easier to get into a nostril to remove whatever might be there.
My step-niece said they were the best ones she ever used for her baby. My daughter agrees, too, since she’s made dozens for her friends’ babies.

My friend and I found your pattern quite some time ago. We have made dozens of them with requests for more. I usually make receiving blankets to match. I pass this pattern on. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your comment! I’m so happy that you and your friend are using this pattern. Great idea to make matching receiving blankets, too.
