I’ve not had that big of difference before but definitely have had the right number of stitches before joining and then not have the right number afterwards. Never did figure out what in the heck happened but just increased and decreased as necessary.

Oh heavens! I swear the gremlins get into our knitting and just play havoc sometimes – nothing else explains this sort of thing.

It’s possible that I wasn’t paying attention to they knitting. I shouldn’t attempt a newish technique (toe up sock) while watching an episode of Midsomer Murders. Oops!
It’s all good now and I’m two pattern repeats away from the ribbing.
